More About This Lens!
thoroughly modern design that's optimized for select Canon EOS digital SLRs. Its angle of view is equivalent to a 96mm lens on a 35mm camera, with a floating optical system that can focus down to full life-size (1:1) magnification. Inner focusing, driven by a silent and powerful ring-type USM, means the lens' overall length never changes during focus. This lens is a wonderful multi-purpose lens that's equally at home shooting macro shots, portraits or available-light photos. Like all Canon EF-S Lenses, its use is restricted to the EOS 20D, EOS Digital Rebel and EOS Digital Rebel XT cameras.

My Second Time-Lapse - Pan-Island Expressway (PIE)

This time-lapse of the Pan-Island Expressway traffic was shot on 15th January 2011, between 10.50pm to 11.40pm. I shot this at a overhead bridge near the HDB Hub at Toa Payoh. All shots were taken with a Canon EOS 7D w/ a remote shutter (no timer) and the EF-S 60mm Macro USM lens with the following settings: First part w/ flowers in focus - ISO100, 5200K WB and 0.5" exposure (and interval) at f/2.8 Second part with the car lights/traffic in focus - ISO100, 5200K WB and 1" exposure (and interval) at f/8.0 A total of 1672 frames were captured in 8 megapixels JPEGs and then batch crop+resize to 16:9/1080p aspect ratio in Lightroom 3. QuickTime Pro was used to convert them into a 25fps clip, followed by the addition of titles and music in Adobe Premiere CS5. Music: Cruising from ‪pacdv.com

Canon 250D for Macro Videography

Canon 250D Close-up Lens Test Results While searching for a good close-up lens which wouldn't degrade the video quality (well almost, see comment later), I came across the Canon 250D. Unfortunately I couldn't find any good test shots or reviews on using the lens for videography. However, I did find a review on YouTube for macro photograpy. The review was good, so I went ahead and ordered the lens from Adorama. After a 2 month backorder wait the lens finally arrived. As it turns out, it was well worth the wait. With 2 elements, the lens has some weight to it. Here are some working numbers: Focus range, lens to subject - 200 to 250mm; horizontal width with tele converter off - 165-200mm (wide), 22mm (tele); horizontal width with tele converter on - 90-100mm (wide), 12mm (tele). The lens produced excellent video quality. The image did soften a wee bit with the the tele-converter on and zoomed all the way in. One of the great features is there is NO focus shift throughout the zooming range. Two other accessories are required to produce good results with this lens. The first is a sturdy tripod with a fluid head, if your subject will be moving, and second a focusing rail. With the lens zoomed all of the way out you may be able to hand hold the shot, but not when zoomed in. The magification and the extremely short depth of field necessitate the use of these accessories. Another recommendation is to turn off instant auto focus. I found with it on the image would suddenly shift to ...

Sigma 24-70 Review - Low Cost and Fast Zoom Lens Alternative

!9#: Sigma 24-70 Review - Low Cost and Fast Zoom Lens Alternative

The Sigma 24-70 is one of the newest types of camera lenses ever to become available. It's extremely cheap when you think about the value you're getting and the lens really does make the shooting process better than usual.

The lens is built very well and is suited to fit any price range. There are many great features it has that most cameras don't offer and the quality of pictures and videos you are able to take makes the whole process even better. What many people don't seem to know about the Sigma 24-70 is that it is very easy to use, despite it not being as big as other lenses.

The lens is at its shortest at 60mm, and is at its longest at 24mm. It measures at 88.7 x 115.5mm, and weighs just a little bit lower than 26 oz. What I really liked about it was how it could zoom extremely well and create amazing quality even though the picture I was trying to take was far away.

You could move the ring in several different ways, making it even easier to use. The 82mm filter diameter makes the lens slightly wide, as many people, like my friends, are used to lenses that are more focused and less wide. Nonetheless, it's a great feature to have and people who don't know how to use cameras could use the Sigma 24-70 very well.

What you should know about the camera is that the sounds can be quite loud, so most people might not like that. In a way, it also makes it sound like the camera moves slower even though it doesn't, making the camera look and sound awkward. It's a good lens to use, but this slight sound could trigger most people to walk away.

On the other hand, I actually didn't find this feature too annoying, as I'm not so good at using cameras and lenses that take quality pictures. When I took pictures from a different lens, I was barely able to take pictures. With the Sigma 24-70, I was able to take photos at a very beginning rate, so I found the slowness of the camera to be very helpful especially for beginners like myself. The Sigma 24-70 has a focusing distance of 15.7", which is 40cm.

Some people find this to be a very bad feature, as they aren't able to take certain pictures at different angles. I for one found this feature to be very good, as it helps in taking professional photos of relatively smaller things like flowers and small objects that come from afar. So if you like to take these sort of photos, you will probably enjoy this feature the most. The Sigma 24-70 is a great lens to use.

It isn't exactly bulky like most lenses and the quality of pictures you can take make the whole process simple and beautiful. It also is very cheap and the value you are getting for such a low price makes it very worth the investment. With the amounts of lenses that are available, I still consider the Sigma 24-70 to be one of the best.
